Personal hygiene can be a tricky subject at home and especially at school.
Some of my students struggle in this area.
My own children have issues with particular self-care tasks as well.
Many children we cared for as foster parents had issues with caring for themselves.
Over the years I've recognized three reasons why children might be having difficulties in this area.
- They have not been taught correctly and/or proper personal hygiene is not expected by caretakers.
- Children may struggle with sensory or trauma related issues surrounding self-care tasks.
- Some are unable to complete tasks without them being broken down into the simplest steps with visuals.
We have created the Montessori-inspired Self-Care: Personal Hygiene Printable Pack resource to help in these circumstances whether at home or at school.
This printable pack is 16 pages in length and is designed for children in Montessori preschool and elementary classrooms.
Just take a look at what's inside!
