Valentine's Day Crafts for Kids
Heart Flower Craft from Krokotak
Sunshine struggles with real flowers because they die. She's not a fan of that happening. This heart flower craft was perfect for her. The flowers don't die.
Sunshine made several of these flowers. She used paper straws instead of popsicle sticks so we could staple everything together, instead of waiting for things to dry.
I loved the cutting practice involved in this craft. Sunshine become quite proficient at using the stapler as well.
Easy Q-Tip Painted Heart Art for Kids from Projects with Kids
Sunshine made a bunch of these Q-tip painted hearts. She then used a hole punch to poke holes in each one. From there she used yarn to string them together to make garland. The hearts hung in her windows, looking absolutely beautiful.
I love that Sunshine practiced so many different skills: tracing, cutting, painting with Q-tips, hole punching, and basic sewing skills.
Paper Plate Valentine's Day Heart Wreath Craft from The Resourceful Mama
This paper plate Valentine's heart wreath was perfect for hanging on Sunshine's door once completed. Sunshine cut out the hole in the paper plate. All of the hearts were next. The last step was gluing all of the hearts on the paper plate, which she really enjoyed.
I love that this project included so much tracing and cutting practice!
Salt Dough Hearts from The Best Ideas for Kids
Out of all of the Valentine's Day crafts we did together, this one was my favorite. It took a few days, which usually isn't preferable for Sunshine, but because she enjoyed it so much, she was willing to wait.
Sunshine helped make the salt dough. She used a heart shaped cookie cutter to cut out every heart, and then a paper straw to poke holes in each heart. We used alphabet stamps to spell different words, and then paint and thread yarn to complete the project.
Sunshine did not want to take down her Christmas tree after the holidays, so she turned it into a Valentine's Day tree. These were some of the ornaments on her tree.
I love that this craft incorporated spelling!
Beaded Heart Ornaments from Crafty Morning
If you have pony beads and pipe cleaners on hand, this craft is so easy. It is also particularly nice when there are time constraints are involved.
I love the focus on fine motor skills while creating patterns etc.
These looked beautiful on Sunshine's Valentine's Day tree.
Salt Dough Heart Ornaments with Photographs from The Best Ideas for Kids
This was an ornament that Sunshine planned to make, but then became sick with the flu, and never got to it. She is already planning on making it next year, so she can add these picture ornaments to her tree.
She loves how these ornaments look. I love all of the steps involved as they help Sunshine practice sequencing.
