FREE Fire Safety Vehicles Color Sort Activity

Fire safety is something that all children should learn at home and school. For children who love emergency vehicles, introducing the topic with an activity all about fire safety vehicles is a great place to start!

Our FREE Fire Safety Vehicles Color Sort Activity is a fabulous way to introduce children to the idea that not all fire safety vehicles are red.

This freebie is also a great way to show children that there are other vehicles that help fight fires besides the traditional fire truck.

FREE Fire Safety Vehicles Color Sort Activity

The FREE Fire Safety Vehicles Color Sort Activity includes six fire safety vehicles in three different colors: red, yellow, and white. There is also a card that establishes each color included.

Children sort the vehicle cards and match them with the color card provided. Colors are written on each card as a control. These words help children start to identify colors through words.

If you're looking for more of a challenge, you can cut the words off of the vehicle cards and have the child sort them without the control.

The colors that are being sorted are not the only colors on each vehicle. It is important to distinguish that sorting is about the main color of the vehicle. This process of sorting helps children distinguish majority versus minority.

These cards can also be used with Montessori color tablets.

The FREE Fire Safety Vehicles Color Sort Activity is a Subscriber's Only Freebie. For your free copy, follow the directions at the bottom of this post.

Montessori-inspired Fire Safety Printable Pack

The FREE Fire Safety Vehicles Color Sort Activity is designed to be used with our Montessori-inspired Fire Safety Printable Pack. This printable pack includes 110 pages of resources to help your child learn about fire safety.

It is designed with the needs of all children in mind and even comes with two social stories to help children know what to do in case of a fire and also how to call 9-1-1.

Activities are designed for children in Montessori preschool and elementary classrooms and focus on vehicles, equipment, safety, and so much more!

The best part about this printable pack is that it is designed to NOT be scary, but instead to empower children.

Sunshine absolutely loved this unit study on our Montessori shelves when we used it a couple years ago.

Montessori Fire Safety Unit

The first set of shelves in our fire safety unit, from top to bottom include language, math, and cultural activities.

Montessori Fire Safety Unit with Free Printable

Located on the top shelf are three language activities where Sunshine practiced identifying the word "fire," learning fire safety vocabulary, and writing fire safety equipment words.

The second shelf includes three math activities where Sunshine practiced identifying the numbers 9-1-1, adding fire trucks, and putting out fires with subtraction. We used fire safety stamps and glass beads when completing these activities.

On the bottom shelf there are multiple fire safety activities that are included in the printable pack including those about vehicles and so much more!

Montessori 9-1-1 Activities for Kids

Our second set of shelves was dedicated to Sunshine learning how to call 9-1-1 and stay safe in a fire.

Sunshine made her own "I Can Stay Safe if There is a Fire!" social story by cutting and gluing pictures on to the correct pages. She sequenced and practiced "Stop, drop, and roll!" The last activity on the top shelf focused on teaching Sunshine her address and phone number.

On the bottom shelf, Sunshine practiced how to sign 9-1-1 to help her remember the correct sequence of the numbers. (This is something she really struggles with.) Sunshine also practiced dialing 9-1-1 and what to say during a conversation with emergency personnel using her own phone.

There are so many activities included in the Fire Safety Printable Pack to meet the needs of every child and teach about fire safety in a way that is not frightening. If you do not have this printable pack yet, I highly recommend it!
