Thanksgiving Activities and Printables
1. Thanksgiving Writing Prompts from Year Round Homeschooling
These writing prompts are perfect to encourage creativity and diversity in writing assignments about Thanksgiving for budding writers.
There is one prompt out of 20+ that mentions a teepee, and another that mentions a pilgrim. These can either be eliminated, or a lesson can be prepared ahead of time to ensure that appropriate information about these topics is being shared.
2. Free Thanksgiving Printable Activity Pack from A Little Pinch of Perfect
This printable pack is so adorable for tots and preschoolers with multiple activities that encourage the development of fine motor skills. The pack focuses on fall themed images, though it does include illustrations of few children from Native American tribes.
3. American Indian Unit Part 2 from A Kinders Garten Vintage Homeschool
There are so many hands on project ideas included in this resource! I love how all are based on culturally sensitive resources. If you have a kiddo that needs hands on projects as part of learning, this is the resource for you!
4. Turkey Ring Toss from Hands On As We Grow
Do you have a toddler or preschooler who enjoys gross motor activities? This is the perfect game to get kids moving indoors or outdoors on or near Thanksgiving. I love how the child becomes involved in the creation of the game.
5. Crafting Gratitude Turkey Placemats from Mama's Happy Hive
I love to entertain. There are very few things I collect, but tabletop decor is one of them. For this reason, I am absolutely in love with this activity. I love that this crafting project has a purpose. The final product is beautiful and so useful during the Thanksgiving holiday!
6. Montessori Preschool Thanksgiving Bible Lesson from Christian Montessori Network
This resource provides a creative way to incorporate lessons from the Bible into the Thanksgiving celebration. I love that it involves a craft that promotes fine motor skills that children will enjoy.
7. A Montessori Thanksgiving from Trillium Montessori
If you have children who love practical life tasks and working in the kitchen, this is a fabulous resource with recipes and all! I love how every aspect of the activities in this post work together to create a final product and experience that all can enjoy!
8. Montessori-inspired Corn Unit from Living Montessori Now
Corn is very much part of the history of Thanksgiving and is therefore a fantastic theme to include while learning. I love that this resource shows corn activities for so many different subject areas!
9. Turkey Tape Resist Art Activity from Busy Toddler
If you're looking for an art project for your kids this Thanksgiving, this is it! This resource includes everything you need to ensure this project is successful. The final results are absolutely stunning!
10. Thanksgiving Shelf Work for Toddlers from Teachers and the Tots
This resource includes so many adorable Thanksgiving activities for toddlers as well as free printables to use. I love that it focuses on so many different aspects of Thanksgiving.
We also have many Thanksgiving activities and printables available at Every Star Is Different!
Native American Indian Activities with Free Printables
These activities focus on Native American/Indigenous People culture and lifestyles, which varied depending on where they lived. I love that important Native Americans are included in these activities. So often they are forgotten in our history, when they contributed significantly to all that happened.
The Giving Tree Family Thanksgiving Unit with FREE Printables
This unit study is inspired by the book, The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein. It focuses on trees, family, and service which are all themes during the Thanksgiving season. I love the variety of activities that are included in this unit for children to choose from.
Thanksgiving Activities for Tots
This is a fabulous resource for tots working on developing fine and gross motor skills. It includes several sensory components to help little ones regulate during activities. I love that it includes practice using a fork and spoon.
Thanksgiving Unit: Native Americans & South America
This unit was the kids' first introduction to Native Americans or Indigenous People. We supplemented the unit with a lot of story books from different tribes. A list of these resources is included in this post. What I also like about this unit study is that it incorporates South America.
Thanksgiving Unit: Pilgrims
This unit study focuses on introducing the concept of pilgrims and how they differ from Native Americans or Indigenous People. Similar to the Thanksgiving Unit about Native Americans, this was a basic introduction of concepts related to Thanksgiving.
