The transition from Montessori toddler activities to preschool learning can be a challenge.
Every child develops at a different pace.
Learning themes can often help guide work and learning, especially if they are based on interests your child has.
I find choosing themes for learning helps guide my process as an educator so much.
Sunshine is turning four this year school year, but is not quite ready for all of the Montessori preschool curriculum due to developmental delays and emotional struggles related to trauma she experienced prior to her adoption.
At the same time, she desperately wants to do learning activities like her older siblings.
I'm following her lead in this area, but making sure activities are developmentally appropriate for her.
Each month will have a theme.
Shelf work will be switched out when Sunshine is ready.
I plan to follow her lead.
Each week may have a different theme, but if she's not ready for new activities yet, I won't switch them out.
