These Polar Bear Activities for Tots and Preschoolers with free printables are perfect for the winter season.
They provide a great introduction to the Arctic and some incredible animals.
What I love most about this unit study is that even the youngest of children can enjoy the activities.
If you're looking for winter activities for young children, this is a start!
Next week the older kiddos are learning about the Arctic, so I thought it would fun for Sunshine to learn about polar bears, along with a few other animals from that area.
I'm very pleased with how the activities turned out. Now if there was light to take pictures... Gotta love Winter in New York!

Land vs. Water Artic Animals
There are so many fun animals that live in the Arctic. Some of them can be found in water and on land.
Sunshine will separate the cards, by animals who are on land, and those who are in the water.

Ice Block Transfer
Sunshine will transfer the ice blocks (sugar cubes) from one bowl to the other using tongs.
Arctic Baby Animal Feel & Find
Four mini figure animals are in the small burlap bag. Each one goes with it's mother on the tray.
Sunshine will feel around the outside and inside of the bag to find the correct baby for each pair.
The bag is purposely small, so she's unable to reach her entire hand inside, or pull the bag wide open to see.
A Polar Bear of Circles
Sunshine will use the felt circles provided to create the polar bear shown above.
I'm so pleased with how this activity turned out.
It can be used again and again and help with parts of the face identification etc.
Transferring Water
Sunshine will transfer water from one container to the next using the dropper provided.
This will be a new activity for her. I hope it goes well!
